Sacramental Ministries
RCIA and Inquiry
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) and Inquiry are programs designed for those who are interested in joining the Catholic Church. RCIA gathers weekly beginning in the fall, and provides instruction in faith development. Inquiry sessions are held throughout the year as a time of questions and answers. RCIC
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Children (RCIC) is a program for children who have reached the age of reason and have not celebrated the Sacrament of Baptism. RCIC gathers weekly beginning in the fall. Cal Sr. M. Cecilianne for more information, 245-7633.
Baptism
Parents wishing to have a child baptized are required to be registered members of the parish and participate in a preparation program prior to the baptism. These one evening sessions are held on the first Tuesday evening of the month (except during Lent). Call the parish office for details, 245-6184.
First Reconciliation and First Eucharist
Children who were baptized as infants prepare for these two sacraments in second grade, both in Our Saviour School and the Parish School of Religion (PSR). Call Sr. M. Cecilianne for more information, 245-7633.
Marriage
Couples wishing to be married in the church are to contact a priest at least six months prior to the proposed wedding date.
Sacrament of Confirmation
Confirmation takes place once a year for 8th graders of the parish. In order to be confirmed, students must participate in at least one year of preparation through Our Saviour School or PSR classes. In addition to instruction, candidates are required to particpate in service projects and a day of retreat. Sr. Cecilianne is the coordinator for this program. Occasionally, there are some adults who were not confirmed as youth. These adults should contact Sr. Cecilianne, 245-7633.
Sacrament of the Sick and Communion Calls
Contact one of the priests at the parish office to receive the Sacrament of the Sick, or to be placed on Father's monthly Communion Call list, 245-6184
Liturgical Ministries
Art and Environment
Plans and creates the decor of the church for the various liturgical seasons. Time commitment is minimal. If interested, contact the parish office, 245-6184
Eucharistic Minister
Extraordinary Eucharistic Ministers assist the priest(s) in distribution of the Eucharist at all Sunday Masses. Ministers are trained, commissioned and then added to the monthly schedule. Contact the parish office or one of the priests if you would like to become a Eucharistic Minister.
Gift Bearers
Gift Bearers bring the gifts of bread and wine up to the altar during the Mass. This simple, yet meaningful ministry is open to single people, couples and families. Call the parish office if interested, 245-6184.
Greeters
Greeters are ministers of hospitality for the parish. Our greeters welcome those attending liturgy and other services. Contact Betty Gibson at the church office to volunteer, 245-6184.
Interpretors
Most weekends one Mass has an interpetor to sign the Mass in American Sign Language for our deaf parishioners.
Lectors
Lectors proclaim the Word of God for the parish liturgies and leads the congregation in prayer during the prayers of the faithful. Lectors are required to attend a training session and are scheduled approximately every other month. Contact the parish office to volunteer, 245-6184.
Liturgy Committee
Plans and prepares for all parish liturgies. Contact one of the priests if you are interested in being involved in this ministry.
Music Ministry
Music ministry plans and leads the music for liturgies. Various opportunities to serve are present in music ministry.
Accompianists provide piano or organ accompianment for music at Mass. They work with the cantors or choirs to lead the congregation in sung prayer. If interested, please call Ann Marie Stahel, 243-9720.
Cantors work with accompianists to lead the congregation in sung prayer during each Mass. A pleasant, confident singing voice is required. Potential cantors should contact Patty Fitzpatrick, 245-9717.
There are two choirs in the parish. The Adult Choir meets for practice Wednesday night and is directed by Ann Marie Stahel, 243-9720. A contemporary choir meets on Thursday evenings for practice and is led by Bob Carney, 245-6288.
Instrumentalists add to the musical color of the liturgy by blending with the singers and the accompianist. If you are interested in playing any instrument other than piano and organ at Mass, please contact Ben Story 883-4157.
Spiritual Enrichment Ministries
Adult Enrichment
This group plans adult education and enrichment opportunities for the parish including the annual Parish Retreat. Please contact Sister Cecilianne to volunteer at 245-7633.
Cursillo in Christianity
A weekend retreat which provides a living understanding of basic Christian truths and a desire to serve the Church. This three day experience is a powerful instrument of renewal in the Church, concentrating closely on the person and teachings of Jesus Christ. Weekends are offered six times during the year. Diocesan Youth Days
One day opportunities for high school youth(all day on a Sunday) and junior high youth (all day on a Saturday) to experience fun and develop friendships with other youth of our diocese. The day consists of a keynote address, break-out sessions (geared toward issues that youth face today), Mass with the Biship, pizza and a dance. The cost is usually $20.00 (does not include transportation). The Youth Days are held in various parishes in the diocese. For futher informatiion contact Sr. Cecilianne at 245-7633
First Friday Adoration
Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament begins immediately following the 7:00 am Mass on the First Friday of each month. Adoration continues through the night until just before the 7:00 am Mass on Saturday. Adoration is held in the Holy Cross Chapel in the bell tower. Rosary/Marian Devotions
Special services for intercessory prayer to the Blessed Mother for the parish are held every Monday evening at 7:00pm and every first Saturday following the 7:00 am Mass. If you have any questions, please contact Nell McGrath at 243-4680.
Teens Encounter Christ (TEC)
At TEC teens experience that they are not alone during the time of moving into adult life. In the three day weekedn, they experience being part of a vibrant, loving, and supportive faith community in with the friendship of Jesus Christ becomes real. TEC is a very human experience. Team members of adults and youth entrust to the participants some of the struggles, joys, and feelings they have experienced in their own lives.
TEC weekends begin on Saturday morning at 9:30am and end around 6:00 pm on Monday. The cost is $60.00 (scholarship money is available). For more information, contact Anna Nidey at Routt Catholic High School (243-8563) or go to http://www.greatrivertec.org.
Scripture Study
Different small groups meet weekly to share the understanding of the Sunday readings. Contact the parish office for more information.
Theology on Tap
This group meets once a month on the first Thursday. Meetings are generally about a topic pertaining to the faith. The group is composed of young adults from across the diocese. Please contact Ben Story for more information at 883-4157.
Young Adult Group
This group provides an opportunity for 20 and 30 somethings to gather and share the faith through prayer, service and social activities. Contact Ben Story at 883-4157 for more information.
Youth Group
Provides opportunities for youth (grades 8-12) to grow in faith, participate in parish life and to serve others. Contact the Youth Ministry team by e-mailing youthministry@oursaviourparish.org or call Sr. Loyola at the Parish Office.
Catechist
Chatechists share faith lessions with children, youth or adults in the ministries of Sunday preschool, the Parish School of Religion, youth groups or RCIA. Contact Sr. Cecilianne to volunteer at 245-7633.
